Summer is Finally Here!!!

The “Brews Brothas” have been out of school for a month now and have done some pretty amazing things so far to kick off the summer.

First, we had an awesome opportunity to be featured on Channel 19 News by Cleveland’s own Damon Maloney where we were interviewed and given a chance to share our story of young entrepreneurship.

Second, Giles and I were able to meet the astonishing Hill Harper at the Cleveland Branch NAACP 105th Freedom Fund Dinner. He was the keynote speaker for the event and gave a message focusing around energy and passion which was very inspiring to us being young black men ourselves. Towards the end of the fun packed night we were able to shake his hand and explain to him exactly what we are doing at Suds Brewing Co. to try to figure out how he could help us. He mentioned that he started his own line of body care products because of the terrible chemicals in other product. These words were very encouraging for us to hear and we are looking forward to working with Mr. Harper in the future.

Last, We participated in the Social Enterprise Accelerator (SEA Change) 12 week program held at The Dealership in Shaker Heights. The program concluded with a pitch day on June 19th where our Co-CEO Giles Foster, V pitched and won 4th place for a $5000 prize.  This award was more meaningful because we were the only youth led team. We were very excited for the opportunity and hope for similar ones in the feature.

We want a cure!

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of Chomolungma Day Suds Brewing Co. has partnered with Jackie O’s Brewery to create a lasting reminder of our joint goal to raise dollars and awareness for cancer research. $1 from every bar sold until 06/30/17 will be donated to the VeloSano “We Bike to Cure” Women’s Health Institute team led by Team Captain Dr. Karen Cooper.  You can buy the bars on our website or locally, in Cleveland, at Cleveland Jam.

The Chomolungma Story:

Jackie O’s Brewery owner, Art Oestrike’s, mother, Jackie, was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer in January of 2006 and passed away in June of 2006. Art’s brother, Brian, is an avid mountain climber and aspired to climb Mt Everest; with Mom’s blessing the yearlong mission to summit Mt Everest began. Mt Everest is also known in Nepal as Sagarmāthā and in China as Chomolungma. On May 23rd, 2007, Brian summited Mt Everest after a year of planning, training and execution.  We have celebrated Chomolungma Day in Athens ever since. Click Jackie O’s to learn more.
